Recipe organisation?
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:37:54 pm »
Hi all,

I'm feeling the need to start keeping my recipes organised and easily accessible these days with all my Heidi cooking :) and I just thought I'd see if there are any fabulous ideas on how to effectively do it?

Thanks x

I'm sure there was a huge discussion on the forum at one stage . . can't quite find the thread atm . .  will keep looking but maybe when Judy has a moment she might remember where it was (she's amazing when it comes to tracking threads, etc! :D). . . . there were all sorts of good suggestions.

Your right GF and I can't remember where it was either. If it isn't in it's own thread it should be as it is a problem we all face at some point thanks to the abundance of recipes and wonderful food cooked on this forum. I don't have an iPad yet ( but hoping Santa is kind) so print off what I like and file it in one of those folders with plastic pockets. Once I cook it and think i will make it again, I cut out the recipe and paste in a blank cookbook dedicated only to tmx recipes. It's not the best way but works for me.

There have been quite a few discussions over the years on this subject, and each person has their own preferences.  I ended up going with Living Cookbook, but didn't go beyond the trial period, however there are quite a few people on here who love that program.  Otheres use and love Paprika, etc.  Perhaps if you search on here for Living Cookbook you will find some help / inspiration.

I use and like Paprika on my iPad. Easy and convenient. Can download recipes from some sites and copy and paste others. Allows pics to be stored against the recipe too.

I have folders in my favourites marked "to try" and "thumbs up". Every few weeks when I have built up a collection in the "thumbs up" folder, I print them out and organise them in a file with plastic sleeves, like Kimmy does. Then I delete all the recipe in the folder and start again :)
