Ooooh Saeco coffee machine... LOL!  :o

I have a royal cappuccino...   :D

The curry powder would make an interesting addition....  ;)

Great to see you handing down your breadmaking skills to your grand-children Chookie.
I have to report that my rolls were perfect, looked just like JulieO's so did not bother with a photo.  The only difference I found was that the rising time took longer both times.  The family love coming here and finding I have just cooked a batch.

It makes the house smell nice, and everyone loves you for making it.

I laughed about everyone loving it.  I am sure my children will love me for making bread (one day!) but they think the bought stuff is the absolute pinacle - a treat beyond all others!    :-))

Containergirl,  I know exactly what you are talking about.   My grand children, 4 of them live on 'plastic ' bread.  I must admit that I also like an occasional slice.   The 2 and 5 years old love these rolls,   and the older 2 are now learning to make this simple bread.   They love the process.   I make it in the TMX,  with them measuring everything,  (bit of a maths lesson).  But I let them knead the dough,  just to get a feel for it.   Then their job is to keep an eye on it and let me know when it has reached the top of the bowl.  Into the oven,  while they watch it rise through the glass door.   They love the end result and to be able to share it with everyone.  i must admit that this cold weather is most suited to cooking inside.  If you can find time ,  give it a go.   There are plenty of good bread makers on the Forum who will willingly hold your hand while you get started.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou!  I hadn't had much success with any kind of bread... some efforts were ok .... but these were perfect!  ;D

Now that I've had success with the rolls, I think I deserve to treat myself to a proper bread tin.  Can anyone tell me what's the best size tin for a quantity of dough like this?

I'll let Chookie answer the question about the tin size Berry but well done.  I know just how you are feeling after your first real success - I was over the moon with mine and from then on my confidence grew and I have had few failures.

Berry,  congratulations ;D ;D ;D    What a smart person you are.   As for tins,  almost anything will do.  My fav. at the moment is a 26 x 15 cm. loaf tin i bought at Aldi for $2.50.  (on special).  Choose the tin according to the shape you want.  Do you want it for square sandwiches or as a center piece for the table when you are having visitors.?  I often use my small cast iron casserole pot with lid.  No need to put dish of water in bottom of oven as firs 20/30 mins is done with lid on.  A cake tin ,  or loaf tin will do.  Spray generously with canola oil and sprinkle with rolled oats or seeds to prevent sticking.  Can line tin if you think it might stick.  Have a look at the post I have just put on chit-chat about liners you can buy.  I have been using the large round one when i make a very large wet loaf in my large cast iron casserole.
You are about to have the time of your life now that you have made your first successful bread.  Have a look at Isi's recipes,  these are simple and tasty.  Good luck.
