Converting some of Chookie's SD starter to a Rye SD starter

I wanted to try a SD loaf from Yoke Mardewi. However she uses rye starters almost all of the time. I find Chookie's starter and SD loaves so much easier to use than Yoke's but still wanted a try.

I took 1/4 cup of Chookie's SD starter and put it I a separate bowl. I added 75g of rye flour and 150g of filtered water. ( I actually use boiled water that I have allowed to cool). Gave the new starter a good mix, covered it and left it overnight.  Hey Presto, this morning I had a lovely bubbly rye SD starter. I have made the bread and popped it into the fridge for a couple of days as I don't have time until Sunday to let it do it's very slow rise.
Yoke has some different ways of doing her SD in the thermomix so I have mixed up a few ideas and hope it will work.

My DH took it into his head some months ago to start making SD bread and he uses a rye starter - based partially on Yoke's book and his own ideas.  He does it all by hand and is getting pretty good at it.  He usually makes a spelt loaf with sprouted wheat but also makes with white flour.  He gets a great deal of enjoyment out of it, but does say that it takes quite a long time from start to finish - not the actual mixing / kneading bit but waiting for it to rise, etc.

Good on him Marina. I have been to several of Yoke's classes and have both her books and another ebook she did about making SD using the thermomix.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Clever girl cookie, let's hope your loaf will give you the same success as your starter did.
DH's interest in SD loaves is great Marina, his new hobby by the sound of it.

I'm thrilled with the loaf I made from the Rye starter. It dough sat in the fridge for about 48 hours as I was busy. I then stretched it and put it into the loaf tin to rise. We don't like tough crusts so this was perfect. As I said I fiddled with Yoke's method a bit, the flavour is wow!

May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Have just caught up with this thread. Well done Cookie , Marinas DH. and CC DS. Bit of an addiction this SD making. Love it when you can fiddle with a recipe and get a good result.
Has anyone else noticed that the loaf so usually ready to bake when bubbles appear on the surface. .?

Gosh I only just noticed your reply Chookie. Yes I have noticed the bit about bubbles appearing on the surface. I didn't do it all by myself, I read it somewhere and found it to be true.
