Halva Flapjacks

Halva Flapjacks
Dan Lepard calls these fudgy, oaty delights. I have to agree with him. These are an unusual slice with a not too sweet but flavorsome taste. They contain Tahini and you could well use TMX made sweetened condensed milk. (I did).

I have removed this recipe as requested by Dan Lepard's publisher.

These made my mouth water. :-*

I made these tonight with some leftover condensed milk.  Absolutely delicious.  As you say Chookie, unusual, but very flavoursome, quite rich I thought - a small piece is plenty - but really yummy (and terribly easy!).

Thanks for posting the recipe.

Oh, I did make a couple of changes due to items missing from my pantry.  I used almonds instead of walnuts (which I thought added a really pleasing texture and crunch) and I didn't quite have enough butter so I had to use 25g of oil.  Didn't seem to have any adverse impact.

Glad you liked them.  Opi,  It is great fun to change things a bit.

Thanks for putting in the  link.  Although I removed the recipe,  there was no need to do o as I had not broken any copy rules.  I just didn't get. Around to  re typing the recipe.

I think its quite difficult to copyright a recipe (easier for a page from a cook book). And if you could prove it was your unique property, all someone has to do is change 1 ingredient and its a different recipe.

Personally I would go with the almonds (and maybe a few bitter apricot kernels), as suggested by Opi. I'll post when I've made some.
