Title: An interesting technique for cake bakers
Post by: andiesenji on February 10, 2012, 11:05:37 pm: I'm posting this because of the photos and the technique, not for the recipe itself.

As we have some very talented cake bakers on this forum, I'm sure they can do this with their own recipes.

I think it is spectacular and there are many other colors that would work in the same way.

There should be something similar available in other countries.

Sure you might need to remind me though! I have so many recipes in the 'to post' pile but just never seem to have the time!! I am at the outdoor cinema at the moment. Waiting for DH to bring the pizza and the muppets to start :) child free!

And also using cake mixes. I have a woman's weekly baking book that's lovely save for the fact that it tells you to use a cake mix for some of the party cakes. Not even an alternative recipe given. Though I realise I could do something of my own. Just irks me that the focus is on what it looks like with no apparent consideration for taste or health.

Rant over. I too appear to be tired and cranky! Sorry.

I would love to do it for my daughters bday, but would also like to avoid bad food colourings. Colours don't need to be sooo vibrant just different enough to be effective. Must google healthy old colour alternatives am sure Jo from quirky has mentioned some before!
