Aldi has advertised a lot of bakeware in this week's flyer including a rectangular spring form cake dish with cover (@24.99). A lot of silicone bakeware at more reasonable prices as well as convection oven and bread maker!! Don't know if the specials are nationwide.

They are on sale in Melbourne from this Thursday

Is it dark metal bakeware courton?
I'm slowly replacing the dark stuff with the lighter grey metal ware.....I've been finding the dark stuff browns things too much.

My papers haven't arrived yet, hope they get here before the rain love a coffee and junk mail.
-
A variety of silicone baking and chocolate moulds
-
My brochures haven't arrived either, will have to look out for them.

We don't have any Aldi's over here but have signed up for their catalogues so we can see what we are missing. I saw this and wished I had an Aldi near so I could have a browse.
-
Won't that make you frustrated that you can't buy anything Cookie or do you think you can buy by mail order if that is possible?
-
We don't have Aldi in Tassie either. Poor tassie misses out on all the good shops. Oh well I guess that's less temptation to spend more money. :)

DD actually subscribed to them one time when we were away and talking about Aldi. They still come as we haven't unsubscribed. Maybe now we are going to get Sunday trading we may get an Aldi or even a Costco. :P

I hope so cookie, we need something to put coles & woolies in there place. Hate the way they are forcing the small companies out with all their home brands being cheap. One day no brands all home brand foods at top prices >:(

Over here the main game-changer in marketing is Walmart. When I first moved to this very conservative area, even Sears had only limited Sunday hours and none of the (few) small department stores were open. We didn't get big department stores until the mall opened in '94.
Now we have several Walmart "superstores" that combines a full-service grocery store with a well-stock department store and the one near me is open 24/7 and there is another within easy driving distance.
A gal who visited me last year from Sweden was amazed that we could go to Walmart after midnight to buy her some cosmetics and other supplies that had been confiscated at the airport in New York before she could fly out here.
I think we spent an hour just so she could wander about in the store to see just a tiny fraction of what was on offer. There were quite a few shoppers besides us.

I watch their special online ans we don't get junk mail where we live. Too far out of town :-(
I bought one of their bread makers when my Breville died. Well, not completely dead. It still kneads beautifully but won't bake.
Very disappointed in the Aldi one. And I have found most Aldi stuff to be pretty good.
I seems to wait too long in the first rise stage and not knock down well.
Every loaf has a sunken top and strange texture.
I am now saving up to get a new Breville.
The silicon bakeware is a bit thin and we have a "Dimmey's" store here that has better quality at similar prices.
The Aldi Cast Iron ware is fabulous. Price wise it is unbeatable and so nice to cook in.
I use the tagine they sell constantly and in winter cook on our wood heater in the bigger cast pans,
I like to shop there as the prices are great, and there are no artificial colours or flavours in their cake toppings etc. But with TC I find I buy so much less stuff now. Just basic flour, milk etc. :-)

I love Dimmeys. I remember haunting one in Swan Hill a couple of years ago. It was change of season and I got heaps of jumpers I could throw in the wash which was great for travelling.
-
I received my Aldi brochures today. Newcastle ( NSW ) starts on Wednesday.
I haven't heard of Dimmeys, do they sell on-line?

Dimmeys seem to be a chain store that now has only a few still operating.
Not sure if the sell online. They have a web site at http://www.dimmeys.com.au (http://www.dimmeys.com.au) to give a bit of an idea.
They sell remainder stock and seconds and a range of the stuff that a lot of other "cheap import stores' have.
The one here is really old and needs a revamp, but I think it would probably cost too much and put the store out of business. ;)

The Dimmeys in Swanhill was much the same.
Hally I saw a piece in the weekend papers that Costco had said they would not be coming here for some time even though we will have Sunday trading. Let's hope Aldi are thinking about it.
