Oat Thins for Thinners

I really like these biscuits for so many reasons.
1.   They are so quick to make
2.   These are ingredients that most people have in stock.
3.   This is just a one simple, quick 10 second Thermomix use
4.   It’s great for beginners, children and demonstrators alike.
5.   They are only 120 kcals- 1.8 Weight Watcher points each.

Name of Recipe: Oat Thins
Number of People: 12

Ingredients:
90g      Porridge oats
75g      Muscovado or Rapadora sugar
2 Tbsp  Brown bread flour (nice with grain)
2       Egg whites, lightly beaten
2 TBsp  Unsalted butter melted


Preparation:
1.   Preheat the oven to 190/375/gas mark 5
2.   Line a large baking tray with baking paper or liner.
3.   Chuck all the ingredients into the TM bowl and mix for 10seconds/speed 4…….and that’s it!!
4.   Spoon out 12 dollops of the mixture onto the tray. Then using a fork, flatten each one to about 8-9cm diameter.
5.   Cook for 15-20 mins till golden brown.
6.   Leave to cool on the tray then store in an airtight container or you can freeze.

Dot would these be similar in taste and texture to Scottish oatcakes?

A little similar but Scottish oatcakes are made from oatmeal as opposed to rolled oats. The Scottish ones are also drier and not so sweet. Here are the traditional Scottish ingredients.  I did have hotels at one stage of my life and the Scots used to bring me oat cakes when they came on holiday. They were not exactly the same in different regions so I expect each has their own interpretation. They used to remind me of the oat blocks that the British Army were issued with in their compo rations. Anyone who has been in the British Army will know what I am talking about. The link below will give you more traditional Scottish recipes should you be interested.
Teacup of medium oatmeal
Teacup of plain flour
Half teacup of milk
Tablespoon of soft brown sugar
3 oz butter or margarine
Level teaspoon salt
Level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)

Thank you DD, both recipes look like something I'll try.
 I lived in north of Scotland for a couple of years and got a real taste for the thin oatcakes.
Great with marinated Orkney herrings, and perfect  with  Vegemite & butter.
