Pizza with garlic sauce

1 quantity EDC pizza dough

Sauce  (enough for 3 pizzas)
 3 cloves garlic
 2 tblspns butter
 3 tblspns flour
 300mls milk
 S & P to taste

With the blades running at speed 7, drop the garlic onto them.  Add the butter and cook 2 mins/100o/speed 1.
Add the flour and cook 2 mins/100o/speed 3. Check to see if the flour has mixed in with the butter, if not help with a spatula.
Set timer for 5 mins/100o/speed 3 and add the milk through the hole in the lid.
When cooked and thickened, add S & P to taste.
Allow to cool slightly then place 3-4 tablespoons onto a pizza base, having turned up the edges to hold the sauce.

Filling - bacon, spinach, caramelised onion, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese

Pre-cook the spinach, onion and mushrooms - day before is fine.
Place onions & spinach onto the garlic sauce, bake 18 minutes 220oC  then add the bacon & mushrooms & sprinkle with the cheese.  Cook 5 more minutes.

JD what a great idea from the usual tomato sauce. I wonder what the family will think of it? I can't even get DH to try a pizza with pesto on it.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I made 3 different pizzas today Cookie - ham & pineapple on tomato base, this one and a vegie one on a basil pesto base.  Ham & Pineapple has always been my favourite and today's has gone straight into the freezer whilst we concentrated on deciding which of the other 2 we liked best.   This garlic sauce one was our favourite.   Enough sauce to freeze for 2 or 3 more pizzas.

Good thinking with the garlic sauce.  Lots of people don't like tomato sauce for their pizzas.  :-* :-* :-*

Judy I made this today as a late lunch/early dinner.  I had a couple of frozen Baker's Delight pizza bases in the freezer that I bought on a whim thinking they may be good standby, so I used one of them.  I wouldn't buy them again, I much prefer home made or we quite like the yiros wraps for individual pizzas which make for a lovely crispy base. 

Anyway, back to your recipe.  It worked a treat.  I made the caramelised onions too.  I cooked some sliced mushrooms in a little butter and plenty of white pepper, then added some baby spinach to the same pan and let it wilt.  I also used prosciutto instead of bacon.
I cooked it in my pizza oven for a few mins.

Was a nice change from the usual tomato based pizzas we usually have, thanks for the recipe.  ;D

I made it earlier in the day, so it was nice and thick when I needed it for dinner.
Was the perfect sauce for the Greek patties on pita breads

I'm thinking I might try this tonight to make pizzas with left over greek lamb, I'm sure it will go better than a tomatoe based sauce.

I'm sure it would be much better Wonder  :) We love this sauce and freeze the left overs into ice cubes so we always have some on hand when we decide on pizza's at the last minute  :)
