How do you clean under the blade?
« on: September 13, 2008, 11:48:10 pm »
we don't tend to pull our tmx apart everytime we clean it / wash it up and i'm disgusted at the grime that is under the blade  :-\ i've tried using all the scrubbing brushes we have plus an old toothbrush but nothing gets under there  :'( YUK!

so what do you use to keep that bit clean?

Hiyya,

Wow, this forum has exploded since last being here!!!  ^^ ^^

I just read your post. This is what I do. I place a little water and bleach in the bowl, and leave overnight. Then I give it a quick bust on turbo and you'll see all the bit and pieces floating around. For me, it works fine.

Hope this helps.

Hi this is Glynis in Hobart Tasmania.Had my thermomix a month .Love it! I find the egg shells and warm water work really well, but also an old eye masscara brush goes easily under the blade, to get any stubborn bits out especially one that has the bristles around a wire tip  then it will bend under the blades.

I'm with Glynis - egg shells, and now, with using for compost, the stems and hard bits from some of the veggies knock of much of the staining and goopers.  Usually do this last thing at night.

Followed with quick rinse and then Turbo a couple of times.

My consultant recommended a brush for baby's bottle or teat ?  Don't have a baby but kitchen shops have bottle brushes of various sizes.

PS Good to have another ozzie on board  ;D - you should intro yourself.  Is Fee your consultant?  ???

:) I love gardening, so I love to compost .The thermomix does such an amazing job  of blitzing for composting and really cleans the stains off the mixing bowl. But I like to take it all to peices and clean everthing well regularly. My daughter and I got our TM's at the same time and Fee is our consultant, her enthusiasm is infectious so we are becoming confirmed thermoholics.

Thanks for that tip - I'll be on the look out for a new baby bottle brush. My children are old enough now that my old one has fallen apart!

Being a DINKY yobbo - my consultant said to get a teat brush - but where - ?pharmacy/supermarket.  I looked in "kids' shops" but couldn't find.

I have a small bottle brush from kitchen shop with plastic over the wire.  Works a treat - but Dean - where d'ya get it? (Sorry, that may be a Victorian ad !! - Like "It's Your Money, Ralph" - an ad for the local bank which went bad - nobody under 30 or living ouside Victoria understands that one  ;D )

Hi Everyone.
I've found Kmart to be the cheapest place so far to buy the teat brushes (in the baby section for the child free people :)).  For under $5 you get a bottle brush as well.
Cheers,
Karen3

Thanks Dean/Karen - my stepdaughter is expecting, so will check out KMart and buy a bottle or two (and maybe steal a bottle brush ;) )
