« on: March 01, 2013, 06:35:18 am »
Hello, I have just cut up a chicken for a casserole for the first time ever (usually buy it cut up!)
Needless to say I didnt do a good job and have a meaty carcass leftover! What can I do with it, too nice to throw out! A lovely soup recipe would be great, failing that, stock? Any pointers gratefully recieved!

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / MC on or Off?
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:10:56 am »
This may well be a very dumb question. I have not established yet whether the MC should be on or off for cooking, it often does not say, so should I assume if it doesnt say leave it on?  Some recipes are specific but I am not sure of the best way to go with this. Obviously some recipes need it there to catch the spray, but other things I dont know??

Also, when it says 'with basket in place to  catch spits' does that mean steamer basket or the little round basket on top? I have been using the steamer basket without the lid.

thanks in advance!

Well, today I think I might have made the first mess up since I got my darling at Christmas.
I made a beetroot chutney from the UK website I think it was, but it is too 'thin' and too much liquid. It said it might thicken on cooling but it hasnt as yet.
Do you think I should put it back in the  TM and add some cornflour and reheat? would that work?
It tastes delicious, but it would not be able to be used on a sandwich etc and it would be a shame to waste it.
Any of your thoughts  would be most appreciated!

Introduce Yourself / thumbs up all round
« on: December 23, 2012, 08:15:49 am »
Well, my thermomix arrived today and after a demonstration, im off and running. Did a quick hummus for pre dinner drinks, then whipped up the most amazing thai red chicken curry, straight out of the EDC book, only used bought paste instead of making my own. it was the best one any of us had had, the boys (26, 24 and hubby) loved it. Raved.
Oh how happy am I ! ;D ;D ;D
could not believe  how easy it all was, and so quick. I can see a whole new phase of life coming up for me in the kitchen!

Introduce Yourself / I too just bought a Thermomix.. so excited!
« on: December 11, 2012, 11:05:51 am »
Hello all, today I made the decision to buy a thermomix after thinking about it for a year, having been to a demo this time last year. I felt it was just too expensive even though I fell in love with it, (love at first sight). After having thermo envy all year I decided that life is too short not to have what makes you happy! I work very hard full time so this is my little treat for my 50th  birthday on Boxing Day. Im looking forward to making some lovely things for my friends to enjoy on that day!
I have been looking on the forum for a while, but still feel a bit overwhelmed at what I need to know. I have an unendurable wait of 10 days or so, but guaranteed delivery before Xmas which is great.
I will do some shopping and stocking up, any suggestions about what to have on hand?
I cant wait to make the beetroot salad that I still remember as delicious from the demo one year ago.. hope I can do it!
I look forward to meeting you all, you all seem such lovely people cant wait to get to know you
