Lemons and more lemons
« on: September 16, 2014, 08:05:01 am »
Hi everyone,

I want to make some kind of lemon drink for friends coming over tomorrow as we have lemons galore at my parents and in laws.

Was thinking maybe an iced lemon tea or lemon cordial type drink. Any recommendations? Something I can make ahead of time so it is ready.

Thanks!

turando, I have always used the lemonade recipe from the original EDC.  Here's the page of reviews of this recipe.

100g sugar
1 tray ice cubes
2 large lemons, washed but not peeled
1000g still or sparkling water
Place sugar into TM bowl and pulverise for 5 seconds on speed 9.
Add ice-cubes and pulverise a further 5 seconds on speed 10.
Remove top and bottom of the lemons and cut into quarters.  Add the lemon to the bowl with 500g water.  Set the speed dial to closed lid position.  Pulse the Turbo button 4 times.  Add remaining 500g water, insert basket into bowl and strain into jug.
Variations - use l lemon, 1 orange and 1 lime.

I used plain old water out of the tap, added an extra 1/2 cup of pure lemon juice and used 160g sugar but try the original and see what you think as the extra lemon and icing sugar can be added at the end.

I have an overload of lemons ATM too, and agree with the EDC lemonade ... my miss8 made it on Sunday (which was her birthday) for the party drinks.  ;D
We did add extra juice as neither her nor me found it 'lemony' enough from the recipe,  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now my girls just want to drink EDC lemonade not plain water  :-)) :-))
:D
